HAVE MORE QUESTIONS?
OUR PRACTICE OF THE LORD’S SUPPER
As a baptized believer in celebrating the Lord’s Supper, you are affirming with each communicant that:
- Jesus is your Savior and Lord.
- You believe His body and blood are truly present for the forgiveness of sins and spiritual strength.
- It is your desire to serve Him as a disciple in the fellowship of the Christian Church.
How old do I have to be to take communion? As a guest, may I commune?
It is our practice at Hope Church to instruct our youth prior to the reception of the Lord’s Supper. That instruction begins in grade six, and the youth are confirmed in the faith at the end of seventh grade. To avoid confusion, we ask that guests and visitors with younger children respect this practice or speak to the Pastor if there are further questions.
What do you serve at communion? I have a dietary restriction, may I still commune?
We serve red wine and wafers at communion.
White grape juice and gluten-free wafers are available in the center of our communion trays for those with dietary restrictions. Please point to the gluten-free wafers, and pick it up yourself to avoid any cross-contamination.
To assure everyone who is able receives the Lord's Supper who needs to be served in your seat, please sit anywhere in the far left section (as you face the front) of the Worship Center. Thank you.
When do you offer communion?
Communion takes place every 1st and 3rd Sunday at all services, including the Saturday that coincides with that weekend.
Hope has two prayer chains that stand ready to intercede on your behalf whenever you have a need. You may fill out the prayer request by clicking "Prayer" under "Care and Support" here on the website or contact Betsy Yohe at 585-663-0073 or email her at Betsy.Yohe@gmail.com
