Words of Hope from Elder Carl Coloney
Where is God in all this? That seems to be a question that many are asking during this pandemic. Did God cause it, or did He allow it, or is He powerless against it, or doesn’t He really care after all? One person I spoke to said that God must have pushed the smite button.
We sometimes as Christians feel that we are being called to be God’s defender. That’s tough as we really don’t know for sure what He is doing in and through the situation. He really doesn’t need us to be His defenders. He can take care of Himself. So what are we to do?
He asks us to simply trust Him in all things. How do we do that in the middle of uncertainty? We look to the cross as the main event in history that does not change. The cross is His message to us that He loves us with an everlasting love. How He manages the world is really His business. As a neighbor has said to me often “God’s got this”. Jesus told His disciple Peter when he asked about the fate of one of the other brothers “Your job is to follow me” John 21:22. May we, as His followers, trust Him in all things, or be honest with Him as the man in Mark 9:24 and pray “Lord I believe, please help my unbelief.”
