Words of Hope from Elder Carl Coloney:
“We are in charge of our destiny.” These are the words of our Governor in a recent press conference. His focus is that if we follow the guidelines of social isolation, wearing masks, and staying home then the disease will decline in the impact it has on our people and society.
In the spiritual realm, we too have a responsibility for our destiny. We can try to obey the rules and guidelines from God but the virus of sin will still destroy us. What option does He leave us? We know ourselves too well as to depend on our own resources for our destiny. In the Gospel of Luke, a convicted criminal dying next to Jesus simply asked Jesus to remember him when he came into His kingdom. He chose to put Jesus in charge of his destiny. We know that Jesus responded with a promise to bring him to paradise that day.
Our future destiny with the COVD virus is uncertain, but our present and eternal spiritual destiny placed in Jesus’ hands is guaranteed to be safe with Him. Proverbs 3:6 says “ In all your ways submit to Him and He will make your paths straight”. In Psalm 143:8 David wrote “ Let the early morning bring me word of your unfailing love for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go for to you I entrust my life”.
