“I will reveal my name to my people, and they will come to know its power.                                                                                                                       Then at last they will recognize that I am the one who speaks to them.” Isaiah 52:6

This past month my son and I went hiking in the Adirondacks. We planned to hike 3 peaks that had thwarted us last year when a lightning storm came through. This time it was a beautiful day and as expected when we reached the summit of Algonquin Mountain, the view of God’s creation was absolutely amazing. However, it was the view from a smaller nearby mountain that was even better.

Wright mountain is just about 1/2 mile away and 500 feet lower and it gave us the perfect perspective of what we just did. It is one thing to see a mountain in the distance; it was quite another to literally stand in its shadow. As we struggle through these very challenging times, we have confidence that Jesus will see us through; that He will walk alongside us and see us to the summit, changing our lives in the process.

Perhaps, though, the even bigger impact for us and our nation will be as we step back and God reveals just what He did; how He guided our steps big and small, and how He persevered with us during the toughest times. He’ll show us just how big of a mountain He took us up and ultimately safely brought us down. I pray that God will reveal His great power to our nation and the world and that we would recognize just what He has and is accomplishing.  I pray that we would all stand in awe and wonder in the shadow of His glory.
