Words of Hope from Elder Mark Erbelding:

“For we have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.” This is the closing thought of a prayer of King Jehoshaphat from 2 Chronicles 20:12 and it shows the dire concern of the day over an invading enemy.

Since there is “nothing new under the sun,” we see the same thing today as fear of the unknown future takes hold of us. Each day the reports change and more measures are taken – we don’t know what to do. But in the same way that Jehoshaphat humbled himself and his people before the Lord, we are called to do the same – and admit that the situation is totally in God’s hands and that our eyes are on Him. The Lord ended up delivering Jehoshaphat and his people in a spectacular way (read 2 Chronicles 20) and we can take hold of that same assurance today – Lord we are powerless, our eyes are on you.
