Founded in 1985 as a local alternative to distant mission trips, Flower City Work Camp mobilizes students in grades 7-12 to serve their own community during Spring Break while living in host churches. Participants engage in diverse service streams—ranging from home repairs and landscaping to leading Sidewalk Clubs, Sports Camps, and supporting local non-profits—collectively contributing up to 30,000 hours of service in a single week. This massive operation is supported by adult volunteers who manage logistics, safety, skills training, and daily operations, ensuring that the days of intense service are complemented by evenings dedicated to communal meals, worship, and spiritual study.
