God is Always at Work
Summer brings many wonderful adventures and sometimes you may need to take a detour to get there. Construction is at its peak during warmer weather. Although you may find yourself on the road less traveled and your trip taking a little longer, usually the bigger picture is well worth it: a safer bridge, a better highway, new or renovated buildings. God is always at work.
You may have noticed a few construction vehicles at Hope as you passed by or drove in. Some have secretly wished that the huge excavation meant an Olympic sized swimming pool for all to enjoy this summer. God, however, has a bigger, better plan: our Vision 2020 project which includes a community care center and expanded space for Kids Ministry and family programs, all of which will knock our socks off. He already has. (Check it out at sharethehope.org/2020-vision)
In fact, God has been known to do more than we could ever imagine; just ask Paul, one of Jesus’ early followers who had a front row seat: “Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.” (Ephesians 3:20) So the deal is that we’re one of the generations Paul was talking about and get this: what God does through us and this project and whatever else He has planned will affect generations yet to come too. #GoGod #dropthemic
The truth is that God is always at work. Always. It could very well be that He has a construction project planned for you. He may dig really deep and excavate your heart. #FearNot It could get messy. There may be piles of dirt everywhere. #DoNotBeDiscouraged He may have to rewire your thinking a bit and replace a few valves here and there. #DoNotBeAfraid Know and trust that He is working all things for your good: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28 He is renovating, restoring, rebuilding. He is making your life better and safer. He wants you to stand on a solid foundation in Him. It takes time. It’s okay. God’s not going anywhere. #IamWithYouAlways
Know that you are part of a bigger picture, a perfectly timed plan with a purpose: “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (Ephesians 2:10) You’re not the blueprint. You’re the masterpiece. Let that truth give you hope because it changes everything.
